The Health Insurance Literacy studies examined the development, use, applicability, and design of health insurance and health systems materials in West and South Louisville. This initiative aimed to assist residents with navigating the health care system and utilizing their health coverage. Related activities were undertaken as academic-community partnerships, involving surveys and focus groups with samples of community members, developing health literacy resources based on their feedback, deploying the resources, and evaluating their impact.
These projects were conducted by our team, working closely with the Louisville Metro Board of Health (BoH) Health Literacy and Education Subcommittee, the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health & Wellness (LMPHW), Federally Qualified Health Centers, health insurers, providers, and academics.
