Professional Health Care Chaplaincy: Exploring Efficacy and Strategizing Future Directions

The Professional Health Care Chaplaincy study is a cross-sectional and observational qualitative study that aims to identify and understand the strengths, challenges, concerns, and questions of current chaplaincy certification processes. By examining the different viewpoints of chaplains who have applied for certification, chaplains who have served on certification committees, chaplains with experience of the competencies needed, and spiritual care department managers, the goal of this initiative is to propose possible revisions to the current certification methodology.

This project is conducted by members of our team in partnership with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and the Association of Professional Chaplains

We are currently writing up the results of this study for publication.
